World
of Warcraft Paladin Guide – Part 2
This is part 2 of the World of Warcraft
Paladin Guide, in which I’ll cover playing the
paladin.
As a paladin you can
play in several different roles, such as healer, tank, or
DPS. But if you try doing them all you won’t be really good
at any of them. That’s why you need to find balance based on
your own playing style. You may find it better to specialize
in one of these, but ultimately it depends on your own
style.
After passing level 10
is when you need to decide what you want to build talent and
gear for as your primary talent. I’ll describe three in
these in the World of Warcraft Paladin Guide. However you
always want to build some talent and gear for other roles
because sometimes when playing in a group you may be needed
to fill a different role from your primary one.
The three specialty
play styles are Tankadin, Retadin, and Healadin.

Tankadin- Tank
Paladin
The Tankadin is the
tank of the group. But unlike the warrior tank, the
Tankadins’ threat comes from their ability to cause Holy
Damage and from being hit. Leveling this class is best
accomplished with the use of a World of Warcraft Paladin
Guide. One is included with the Ultimate WoW
guide.

Tankadins also differ
from other tanks in their decreased ability to take slow
hits but have a better ability to take fast hits.
Tankadins also have
timed abilities that last only a short time so you have to
be sure to manage them effectively. Managing seals,
judgments, stuns and other spells is one of the major
challenges of the Paladin class.
Retadin- Retribution
Paladin
Paladins have been
able to play as Retadins ever since patch 2.3. It may take
some convincing in a group to play this role as many still
view paladins as primarily healers but you can definitely
hold your own in PvP.
To be effective as a
Retadin you have to balance all your gear. Balance strength,
agility, stamina, intelligence, +Attack Power, +Crit chance,
+damage and +to hit. The World of Warcraft Paladin guide I
recommend will help you accomplish this.
+Attack Power is
probably the most important because it gives you more
ability to cause damage.
Some things to avoid
as Retadin are, engaging in multi combat at once, using
potions and auras to early, and the wrong weapons. Stick to
weapons that do the most damage and avoid fast, low damage
ones. A more comprehensive World of Warcraft Paladin guide
will go more in depth on this.
Healadin- The
Healer
This is the Healer,
and as healer you will be playing a more support role in a
group. So remember if combat is your thing you’ll be sitting
out a lot with this play style.
Unlike other healers,
Paladins can take a beating and still heal. However because
the healing spells take a long time you’ll need to manage
who you heal and when very effectively. When in a standard 5
man instance the priority should be on the tank of the
group. Then comes the AOE DPS, DPS and so on.
Here are the heals you
have:
-
Holy Shock-
Instant heal but takes time to cool down and high
mana cost.
-
Flash of
Light- Fast, but doesn’t heal very much.
-
H
oly Light- Takes longer than Flash of Light but
heals more.
-
Lay of Hands-
Varies in time and healing
Using these and
leveling are covered thoroughly in the World of Warcraft
Paladin guide I’ve mentioned earlier.
