WoW Skinning Guide

Click Here - WoW Skinning GuideSkinning in WoW is a primary profession which allows you to skin beasts that you’ve slain. The hides are used primarily for leatherworking, but can also be used in some recipes used in Blacksmithing, Engineering, and Tailoring. In the WoW Skinning Guide I’ll go into some of the basics about this profession that will get you started on the right track.

Skinning is a gathering profession, and a very good one at that. Not only can you skin mobs that you’ve killed but also ones left behind by others. To become a skinner as with any other profession you need to find a trainer. They can be found generally near leatherworkers, and you can always ask a guard. Once you’ve trained you’ll need a skinning knife, which you can get from any merchant that sells profession related things.

WoW Skinning Guide ranks and their associated skill levels are list below:

  • Apprentice: Levels 1-75
  • Journeyman: Levels 50-150
  • Expert: Levels 125-225
  • Artisan: Levels 200-300
  • Master: Levels 300-375

To level to skill level 1-450 with the Wrath of the Lick King in the fastest and cheapest way use the profession WoW Skinning Guide that you’ll find with the Ultimate WoW Guide.

It also happens to include farming maps that’ll make it lot easier to get what you need, and was update for Call of the Crusade. But in general Horde should go to either Vengeance Landing or Borean Tundra and Alliance should head to either Borean Tundra or Valiance Keep.

Choosing a secondary profession to go along with skinning is important because some are better than others. For instance Alchemy and skinning just don’t go together and would put you at a disadvantage. On the other hand, having two gathering professions such as skinning and mining or even herbalism would be great because of the profit potential of selling what you gather. But the most obvious second profession would be Leatherworking as you’re already going to be gathering all the necessary materials for it anyway.

As far as actually skinning animals only certain ones can be skinned. Just hover over the corpse to see if you can skin it. You must first completely loot it, then skin it. As mentioned earlier you can skin beasts that have been killed by others, but make sure they’re not skinners as well and wait until they leave the corpse to be polite.

When you see that an animal is in fact skinnable it will display a color coding. They refer to the difficulty level and will determine whether you can skin it at your current skill level and whether or not it will help your skill level.

  • Red: You can’t skin it at your level.
  • Orange: Means it’s difficult but it also has a good chance of increasing your skill level.
  • Yellow: This is moderately difficult and has a moderate chance of improving your skill level.
  • Green: Easy, but also has a low chance of benefiting your skill level.
  • Gray: Really Easy, and no chance of increasing your skill level.

I really hope this helps you understand skinning a little better and if you do choose this as your primary profession use the WoW Skinning Guide that comes with the Ultimate WoW Guide. It’s really excellent and easy to use.
